“Food is more than the fuel that feeds your body. Food has a direct impact on your health, energy levels and emotions. My goal is to help you rediscover your love for the right foods for your body type, your lifestyle. Good nutrition isn’t about denial it’s about making good choices.”

#MakeGoodChoices #NutritionalNugget - How many of you love to vacation to tropical destinations where the food and drink is plentiful and the sunshine and warm temperatures bring you closer to the water? I had the pleasure of visiting a tropical destination recently and I have to say I sure do flourish in the warmth. With that however, comes choices to make when it comes to food and drink. There is a lot of that especially at an all inclusive. Here are my #NutritionalNuggets that helped me keep some sort of balance. 1) Drink water - depending on the locale, bottled is probably your best bet. Have water before breakfast, at the poolside or beach and definitely sip on water no ice at meal times. Also, one more before bed. Note: two glasses of water for every unit of alcohol. Combats the dehydrating effect of the alcohol. 2) Stock up on veggies - with every egg, meat or fish or poultry dish, fill your plate with vegetables. Go easy on the rice and potatoes and if you do let that fill 1/4 of your plate. The veggies can be on it's own separate plate or at least 1/2 of the dinner plate. 3) Snack - if you have access to fresh fruit and or nuts and seeds let these be your filler for the day. It's easy to snack on cookies and chips but if you fill up with the other you won't need as much of the sugary, salty refined snacks. 4) Read a good book, journal, have quiet time, laugh and have fun! 5) Get to know the locals, they are the best at sharing their culture. Have fun in trying new foods, and maybe they'll share a recipe or two with you. If you would like to share how you maintain some balance on your trips please share. What are you doing to #MakeGoodChoices on your travels? You may want to join me in the #PostHolidayRebalance Program beginning February 27th online. Closed Facebook group with my support.
